SWNS News and Updates

Our school year came to a close with 30 pre-kindergartners graduating on to kindergarten on Friday, May 11. The students processed to “Pomp and Circumstance,” complete with mortar board caps and then led their families in the “Pledge of Allegiance” followed by “You’re a Grand Ol’ Flag.”
Guests were then treated to some of the students’ favorite songs.
Diplomas were awarded by the teachers. Photo opportunities were abundant in Wesley Hall as the students shared their autobiographies and self-portraits with their friends and family.

Each class ended their year with a special treat. Playgroup enjoyed ice cream with sprinkles, and the
3&4 year-old classes had a “Guest Day.” Each child got to invite a special guest to join them in a “build your own” caterpillar snack of grapes with a strawberry head and chocolate chip eyes. They then helped their child make a caterpillar craft and ended with singing some of the students’ favorite songs from the year. Pre-K students had fun with an obstacle course followed by a cook-out with hot dogs, chips, and popsicles!

Our storage room has been thoroughly inventoried, all toys have been sanitized, our classrooms are neat and tidy, and our staff is now officially on summer vacation! I will be in the office weekday mornings until May 25 closing out this year’s records and preparing for next year. If you know someone wanting to enroll for 2018-2019, please have them come in before May 25 as one class is already full and the others are mostly full as well! We will have an Open House in early August.

It is a blessing to be a ministry of First United Methodist Church. This has been a very welcoming home for SWNS for the past 35 years!

Thank you for the prayers, support, and encouragement.
